The first part of your appointment is a thorough, tooth-by-tooth examination. Your dentist will assess the overall health of your teeth and gums, checking for early signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health concerns - including oral cancer screening.
We will also review your medical and dental history to ensure your care plan is tailored to you.
Even with excellent home brushing and flossing habits, plaque and tartar (calculus) can build up in hard-to-reach areas over time. Our dental team uses specialised ultrasonic scaling tools to remove this hardened buildup, particularly along the gumline.
Your teeth are then polished to smooth the surfaces and remove surface stains, leaving your mouth feeling refreshed and clean. This step also helps prevent future plaque from adhering to smooth tooth surfaces.
In some cases, we will take digital radiographs (x-rays) to identify problems that are not visible to the naked eye - such as decay between teeth, impacted wisdom teeth, or issues below the gumline.
Digital x-rays use significantly less radiation than traditional x-rays and provide instant, high-resolution images for an accurate diagnosis.
